We are thrilled to have Wayne Calder, Hazel Jackson, and Chris Crump leading us on Sunday mornings. Join us for their exhilarating promptings
during worship! Christie Burnette brings ministry and administrative experience to the business side of SOTH. Although they bring varied experiences
to their leadership at Shepherd of the Heart, they are united in their love
of God, in their desire to serve, and in their personable and gentle outreach
to those who are seeking.
Wayne Calder comes to us from South Africa. Like many of us, he comes from an "unchurched" family. After starting in youth ministry in South Africa, Wayne was invited to study in the United States. He arrived in 1988 to complete his Masters Degree in Divinity at the Fuller Theological Seminary in California. Wayne served as an associate pastor at two United Methodist Churches in California as part of the Pacific Conference. He was ordained an elder in 1994. He moved to Texas in 1996. In the Houston area Wayne first served at Asbury UMC in Pasadena and then as senior pastor at Genoa UMC. He was appointed senior pastor at Shepherd of the Heart in June of 2003.
Wayne is married to Terri Calder and has an adult step-son. Outside of the Kingdom, Wayne's hobbies include bicycling, traveling, and building and collecting model cars. He is also interested in race cars and giant mining equipment. Wayne is known for his relevant and inspiring messages, engaging stories, and entertaining use of props.

Chris Crump is the Worship Ministry Director at Shepherd of the Heart.
Chris is a graphics design artist by degree, but his passion for music has been nurtured by what Chris describes as a "Partridge Family" childhood. He is blessed with a powerful voice and an engaging style on the guitar.
Chris performs for churches, youth retreats, camps, and college events. During the second half of 2007, he spent many hours in the studio to produce his first professionally recorded CD - soon to be released!
Christie Burnette is currently serving Shepherd of the Heart as the Administrative Assistant. She has been involved in a variety of ministries at the local church level and at the district level - Children's Director, Sunday School teacher, programming team for UM Army and Faith in Action, VBS Director, Bible Study leader, and District Camp director.
Christie and her husband John owned their own retail business for ten years. During that time, she became proficient in office management, supervising production, and customer service.
